Emotional experience in patients with chronic renal failure

The diploma thesis deals with the emotional experience of patients with chronic renal failure. It aims to explore positive and negative emotional experiences, the presence of depressive and anxiety symptoms, the degree of anger and alexithymia in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. The theoretical part summarizes previously published theoretical knowledge in this area and the empirical part describes the statistical measurement and comparison of selected variables of emotional experience in the research sample. The theoretical part is divided into 4 chapters, the first of them deals with the medical aspects of chronic renal failure and its treatment. The second chapter deals with the coping with illness, defines psychological aspects of chronic disease and describes the patient's subjective perception of the disease and attitudes towards the disease. The third chapter summarizes the definitions of emotions and emotional experience and defines the most respected theories of emotion. The fourth chapter describes the emotional experiences of illness, factors affecting the emotional experience of illness and deals with depression, anxiety, anger and alexithymia, at the end focuses on current research in this area. Quality of life in patients with chronic nonmalignant pain

This bachelor's thesis addresses fear of pain (agliophobia) in patients who suffer from chronic, non-malignant-tumor-related pain. The paper is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical background deals with definitions of quality of life, pain and emotion associated with pain. It explains the origins and causes of pain, methods of its investigation and consequent treatments. Finally, focus is given to addressing issues within nursing care. The empirical section focuses on the quality of life in relation to other clinical and demographic factors. The conclusion of the empirical section describes the surveyed sample of patients and presents results of the research conducted. Research within the study was based on quantitative questionnaire surveying. The study uses standardized questionnaires focused on day-to-day activities and emotions. Patients filled in forms and questionnaires detailing their medical histories, emotions (BDI II, GAD-7, daily activities (Oswestry Index, Tampa Scale) and scales of quality of life in chronic pain (QOLS). Statistical data analysis was conducted with regard to the hypotheses of relationships between the selected and monitored variables. Analysis was contruct from Spearman rank correlation, Cronbacha alfa, t-test and linear regresion.

Zootherapy influence on children with mental disabilities

This thesis focuses on the influence of animal-assisted therapy for children with mental disabilities. The theoretical part describes the different kinds of animal-assisted therapy, especially canistherapy which is of the most used with children with mental disabilities. Furthermore, the legal questions of practicing zootherapy and description of its origin is mentioned. The practical part describes methods by which research is conducted. The research work is focused on children with mental disabilities who attend day care centers, in which they participate in zootherapy. The interview was conducted with five families of these children and was focused on whether zootherapy treatment has a positive effect on children with mental disabilities and their families. The research was complemented by case studies.
Influence of Emotional Experience in Decision-making Processes

This bachelor thesis deals with an exploration of emotional experience influence on individuals' decision-making proces in particular companies where managerial posts are occupied by these individuals. The main purpose of this thesis is to find out whether the emotional characteristic affects some individual's decisions in emotionally burdensome situations and what impact these decisions could be on a company situation as a whole. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts. The first part deals with a general and a theoretical knowledge about emotions, emotional experience, emotional expressions and influence of emotions on cognitive and psychological function of an individual. It also pays attention to finding and solving of the problem and decision-making processes. The substantial part of this section creates an analysis of emotion influence on individual decision-making processes. The second part of the bachelor thesis pays attention to detecting and processing the data of the selected companies. The analysis of the collected data finds out an emotional characteristics of selected persons occupying managerial posts. This part investigates a proces of decision associated with higher rate of an emotional burden, behaviour of selected persons in emotionally burdensome situations and a possible impact of these persons' decisions on a company situation as a whole.
